The Stories We Are is an exhibition exploring how our identities are shaped by the people, places, traditions, and experiences that remain with us. Through painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, mixed media, and other forms of artistic expression, participating artists are invited to share stories rooted in personal memory, cultural heritage, family history, and community.
The exhibition considers identity not as a single, fixed narrative, but as a collection of stories passed down, remembered, questioned, and continually rewritten. These stories may honor loved ones, preserve family traditions, celebrate cultural practices, revisit meaningful places, or reflect on moments of transformation, migration, belonging, and loss.
Some works may tell intimate stories drawn from an artist’s own life, while others may speak to shared histories and collective experiences. Together, the artworks reveal the many ways stories live within us—in our bodies, names, languages, rituals, objects, photographs, and memories.
The Stories We Are celebrates storytelling as an act of connection and preservation. It invites viewers to consider the experiences that have shaped them, the stories they carry forward, and the legacies they are creating for future generations.
